Owens instructs sea kayaking, rock climbing, mountaineering, and backpacking skills in addition to wilderness medicine. She has worked most recently for Outward Bound in Washington. The bulk of her medical experience comes from time spent in the field with clients and students in wild places over the past 7 years. She has guided all over the contiguous USA as well as in Alaska and Chile. She spends much of her free time wrenching on and living out of her 4×4 Toyota Van and running, rock climbing, and kayaking across the west. Durango, CO is home base.
